SAVE ENERGY AND REMEMBER MOONLIGHT...
Lunescent is an innovative system of street and outdoor lighting that responds to moonlight, dimming and brightening each month as the moon cycles through its phases. Lunescent lights use up to 90% less energy than conventional outdoor lighting.
Going green doesn’t have to be about changes you can’t feel or adaptations you can’t see. Lunescent technology provides high-quality, bright white light–that emulates moonlight—while using only 16 watts of energy.
BENEFITS
Many sustainable technologies are “invisible”; they merely replace one technology with another. By contrast, Lunescent lights offer a strong experiential benefit: they return the beaty of moonlight to areas where it has typically been drowned out by excessive, often low-quality lighting.
SAVE ENERGY: Lunescent lights use up to 90% less than conventional HID (high intensity acronym) lights, through a combination of lunar-responsive dimming, LED light sources, and efficient light calibration. t.
REDUCE LIGHT POLLUTION: Lunescent technology vastly reduces light pollution—a problem with serious aesthetic, ecological and health-related drawbacks. Over 1,000 US towns and cities have enacted “Dark Sky” ordinances to reduce light pollution.
ENJOY THE NIGHT SKY: Lunescent lights use high-quality clear, white light—similar to moonlight. They emit an even, natural light designed to emulate, not compete with nature.
TECHNOLOGY
Lunescent is a patent-pending technology, that uses sensors to measure ambient moonlight. The sensors interface with an intelligent control system, for use with LED or other dimmable light sources.
The Lunescent control system incorporates a wireless mesh network, allowing remote control and system customization.
End users can easily adjust the mimum light output by changing settings on a central computer.
Lemma, the first Lunescent-powered product, is scaled for pedestrian and area lighting; it uses only 16 watts of electricity. An ordinary metal halide streetlight uses 150 watts of energy.
